Find your group
when the network gives out.

40,000 people in a field and not a single message getting through. KapFind doesn't use the network: your phone talks directly to the ones in your group, over Bluetooth.

Léa

Three screens, and that's it

No map to decipher, no settings, no tabs. Create a group, see everyone, message each other.

1

A code to say out loud

Six letters you can shout over the noise — no I, no O, no zero, no one.

The KapFind home screen: create a group, or enter an existing code.
2

The radar turns with you

“Top of the screen” always means “in front of you”. Tap a name and the needle follows that person.

The KapFind radar: five people from the group, the needle pointing at Léa, 49 metres straight ahead.
3

One thread for the group

Just one, for everyone. Messages hop from phone to phone, with no network.

KapFind messaging: three messages from the group and the text field.
KapFind on Apple Watch: the radar, Léa's distance and her name.

And on your wrist

On Apple Watch, the radar and the distance are right there without taking your phone out of your pocket — with its own compass, because the heading of a phone in a pocket means nothing to a needle on your wrist. Bluetooth, though, stays in the phone: the phone is what talks to the group.

How it all holds together

No server, no account, and nothing to install but the app.

A code, not an account

Six letters you say out loud. Nobody signs up, nobody hands over an e-mail address. The code is also the group's encryption key.

A needle, not a map

Tap a name, the needle points at that person and the distance counts down as you walk. No map to decipher at 2 a.m.

Encrypted by the code

Frames are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key derived from the code. A device that doesn't have the code can't open them, even if it relays them.

Hop by hop

Two people too far apart still find each other: the phones in between relay, without ever being able to read what they carry.

Under the hood

A simulated festival, played by the app's real code, iPhone and Android: thousands of festival-goers, three stages, and every message passing from phone to phone. Who relays what, and what each screen believes.

Look under the hood

Nothing leaves your group's phones. There is no server behind KapFind — there is simply nowhere to send anything. See the privacy policy.

Before the next festival

Free, no account. Install it while the network still works.
